Thank you all for coming to the Open the Door (OTD) Kick-Off!

The TFAA team would like to thank all of you for making the first public reception of Open the Door (OTD) a great success. We were happy to see many of you there at the Public Library Plaza of Houston-Downtown, on Saturday, 16th of March.

Before the festivities started, the following speakers presented the OTD project to the public: Mellor Langford - The Houston Public Library Deputy Director of Public Services, Jennifer Schwartz - The Houston Public Library Programming Director Mickey Henry - The President of Texan-French Alliance for the Arts, Karine Parker-Lemoyne and Romain Froquet, curators of Open the Door.

The festivities featured live entertainment and encouraged audience participation. Writers in the schools (WITS) and The Storyteller's Guild held workshops and spoken word performances.

On the other side of the plaza, Inprint's Poet Buskers typed out poetry-on-demand on the themes given to them by the public.

For theater buffs, the French troupe, Et Voila Theatre and the dancers from Urban Souls, showcased their craft.

In addition, music from the Hustlers Brass Band from New Orleans, the young orchestra Virtuosi of Houston and a DJ, Lucas Keiser, complemented the event. Sweet Paris was also here to bring their "French touch" with their so delicious sweet crepes.

All of you, artists from different backgrounds and disciplines, brought such a wonderful energy to this plaza. We truly felt that a fusion operated between people, and that everyone was looking and moving in the same direction thanks to you.
